    What will you learn? This qualification equips existing workers with the skills to install and maintain heat pump systems, which can heat buildings without any external fuel source by using heat absorbed from the ground to provide hot water and central heating.

    Who is the course aimed at? Learners who want to progress in the building services sector to work with environmental technologies. Qualified and competent plumbing and heating engineers looking to gain the knowledge and skills to install and maintain heat pump systems.

    The Course Programme:

    This course covers:

    • Install, commission and handover heat pumps non refrigerant circuits
    • Know the requirements to inspect, service and maintain heat pump system installations non refrigerant circuits
    • Inspect, service and maintain heat pump installations non-refrigerant circuits
    • Know the requirements to install, commission and handover heat pump systems non-refrigerant circuits

    Pre-Requisites Candidates will need N/SVQ Level 2/3 in either plumbing, heating and ventilating, oil-fired technical services, gas installation and maintenance, approved equivalent, JIB-PMES/CSCS card or Engineering Services SKILL card. In addition, if not included in the above current certification in relation to Water regulations/Water Byelaws (WRAS or equivalent) and Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating.

    How is the qualification assessed? Each knowledge unit features an external on-screen exam, with a further internal centre marked assignment for the practical units.

    Duration: 3 days training followed by 1 or 2 days of practical assessments either at PGL Training or in the workplace.
