Who is it suitable for?
For candidates who want to work as carpenters in the building services engineering sector.
Suitable for candidates who have previously completed the PGL ‘Introduction to Site Carpentry’ course or an equivalent Level 2 Carpentry qualification.
What’s involved?
This is a qualification that tests both practical and knowledge-based skills through a range of practical assessments and online exams.
The units that will be studied are;
- Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction
- Principles of construction, information and communications
- Construction methods and technology
- Carry out first fix operation and techniques
- Carry out second fix operation and techniques
- Carry out erecting complex structural carcassing components
- Carry out maintenance on non structural and structural components
- Setting up and operations of fixed and transportable machinery
Where might it lead?
When you have successfully completed this qualification, you will be at an Improver/Carpenter’s Mate level.
In order to fully qualify as a Site Carpenter, you will need to complete the NOCN_Cskills Awards Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) Site Carpentry.
Course Duration
6 – 12 months
But can be completed sooner with regular attendance

A mixture of prior home study, workshop practical training and assessments. A delivery cycle will be provided

Online multiple-choice tests and practical assessments
Entry requirements
Candidates must be able to demonstrate prior carpentry knowledge and experience. This may either be through the completion of the ‘Introduction to carpentry’ course, or an equivalent Level 2 Carpentry qualification
